How to count with the app

  1. Create a counter

    Give each counter a name such as "Entry" or "Rows" and set the step size to 1, 10 or 100. You create as many counters as you need and swipe between them.

  2. Count

    Tapping anywhere on the screen adds, swiping down subtracts. Without looking, you count with the volume keys.

  3. Save the session

    You save every count with a timestamp and label. You export the log of all sessions as a PDF.

What you can count with a tally counter app

Once counting no longer distracts you, you use the app for anything where you would otherwise lose track:

  • Entry and visitors: guests at an event, participants on a guided tour
  • Sport: laps, reps and sets
  • Needlework: stitches and rows when knitting or crocheting
  • Inventory: boxes, parts and goods in the warehouse
  • Hobbies: birds when birdwatching, cars, collectibles, points in darts

For a inventory count, you create one counter per shelf and count large quantities in steps of ten. In darts, you keep counting between throws with the volume key, without tapping the screen.

Count without looking

The most common mistake when counting is looking. If you look at the screen with every click, you lose sight of what you are actually counting.

With the volume keys you count blind. The phone stays in your hand or your pocket, and your eyes stay on the entrance, the pool lane or your needlework.

If you tapped by mistake, swipe down once. Every counter keeps its count, even when you close the app. The black screen does not flicker and saves battery on OLED displays.

Tally sheet or app?

A tally sheet on paper costs nothing. But with large quantities it gets confusing, and with one hand on the sheet and your eyes elsewhere, it is easy to lose count.

The app counts with a tap or a key and counts in steps of ten or a hundred if you want.

What the app costs

Counting is unlimited, with several counters and the volume keys. The free version shows ads, but never while you are counting, only when you save or open an entry, and never twice in quick succession. With the one-time purchase you see no ads at all. The purchase also unlocks the PDF export. There is no subscription.

Common questions about the tally counter app

Can I count with the volume keys?

Yes. You count either by tapping anywhere on the screen or with your phone's volume keys. That way you keep counting even when you cannot look.

Can I keep several counters at the same time?

Yes. You create as many named counters as you like, for example for inventory, guests or darts, and swipe between them. You set the step size to 1, 10 or 100 for each counter.

How do I undo a tap?

Swipe down on the screen. That takes one away.

Why is the screen black?

The deep black saves battery on OLED displays and is easy on the eyes. The calm screen does not flicker, so you do not lose count.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes, even in a warehouse or gym without reception. Counters and sessions stay on your device, and you do not need an account.
