How to keep your timesheet

  1. Set your daily target

    You enter once how long your working day is under your contract, for example 8 hours.

  2. Clock in with one tap

    One tap at the start of your shift, one at the end. The net working time runs live. You add forgotten shifts by hand.

  3. Create the monthly PDF

    The monthly summary shows target, actual and balance. As a PDF you get all shifts and overtime in one statement.

What belongs in a timesheet

"Worked as usual today" does not help when it later comes down to overtime or missing pay. Every entry should include:

Why your own timesheet pays off

Only if you record your working time yourself can you check your pay stub at all: are the paid hours right, is the overtime included, have the breaks been deducted correctly?

If you want to be paid for overtime, you may have to show when and for how long you worked. In Germany, § 16(2) of the Working Hours Act (ArbZG) requires employers to record hours beyond the regular working day, and § 17 of the Minimum Wage Act (MiLoG) requires working time to be recorded in certain sectors.

Whether you are entitled to overtime pay or back pay depends on the individual case and your employment contract. If things get serious, the works council, a labor union or a lawyer specializing in employment law can help.

The GPS stamp is optional

If you want, the app saves your location when you clock in or out. This only happens at the moment you actively clock. The app does not track your location in the background, and there is no geofencing. For every shift, you decide yourself whether a location is saved.

Timesheet template or app?

A paper timesheet costs nothing and is enough if you keep it every day. But it is easily lost in a jacket pocket, and at the end of the month you add up the overtime by hand.

The app sets the date and time when you clock, deducts the breaks and keeps a running balance.

What the app costs

Time tracking is free, with no limit on the number of shifts. The free version shows ads. A one-time purchase in the Play Store unlocks the PDF record and removes the ads. There is no subscription.

Common questions about the timesheet

How does the app calculate overtime?

You set your daily target, for example 8 hours. The app deducts the breaks from the clocked time and compares the net working time with the target. The difference is your overtime.

Am I tracked by GPS?

No. The location stamp is optional and only applies while you are actively clocking. There is no location request in the background.

I forgot to clock in. What now?

You add the shift by hand, with start, end and break.

Isn't my employer supposed to record my time?

In Germany, under § 16(2) ArbZG, your employer has to record hours beyond the regular working day. Your own record still helps you compare their figures with yours.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes, recording works offline. Your shifts stay on your device, and you do not need an account.
